Summary: Russian school librarian who was injured during the 2004 school hostage-taking siege in the southern Russian town of Beslan after she was held hostage for three days along with her 3-year-old son and more than 1,100 children, parents and staff in the school's gymnasium by at least 31 heavily-armed Chechen militants, whose son survived the seizure that ended on Sept. 3, 2004 when one of the militants' explosive devices went off and security forces stormed the building as the ensuing maelstrom of explosions and gunfire killed the majority of the victims (more than half of whom were children), in which two other former hostages died of their wounds last year and another died in August 2006, which had brought the overall death toll to 333 in a figure that does not include the hostage-takers.
