Summary: Roman Catholic nun and arithmetics teacher who was remembered for her heroic efforts as she directed 8th-grade students to escape out the windows in Room 209 of Our Lady of Angels School in Chicago, Illinois on Dec. 1, 1958 when smoke from the fire that would kill 92 children and three nuns started wafting under the classroom door and whose actions as a 52-year-old Catholic school teacher helped saved all but two students in her classroom while some classrooms lost as many as 29 schoolchildren.
