Summary: one of 28 black U.S. soldiers wrongly accused and court-martialed for allegedly rioting and lynching an Italian prisoner of war at Seattle's Fort Lawton in 1944 who became one of only surviving soldiers from the group after the U.S. Army formally apologized and awarded all the men honorable discharges, set their convictions aside, and gave their families back pay for the time they served in jail.
