Kennedy and the inspiration for the Special Olympics who was born mentally retarded and forced by her father to undergo a frontal lobotomy when she was 23 and subsequently lived most of her life at the St. Coletta School for Exceptional Children whose condition became an inspiration to her younger sister, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, leading her to became an activist in the field of mental retardation and found Special Olympics for mentally disabled athletes.
