Summary: suspected serial killer who was serving a life sentence since 1975 for the 1969 abduction and murder of 17-year-old Rosemary Calandriello (whose body has never been found) and became the first person in New Jersey to be convicted of murder without a body as evidence, who was also considered a prime suspect in a string of unsolved murders of three other teenage girls in the state, but who was acquitted in 2001 of the 1958 murder of Rahway police officer Charles Bernoskie during a botched burglary at a car dealership, and who was indicated in March this year in the death of 13-year-old Jane Durrua when she was found murdered in a Keansburg field the morning after leaving a football game in 1968.
