Robert Frederick Garceau
murderer and former Hells Angels motorcycle gang member who was
convicted of the Sept. 1, 1984 murders of his girlfriend
Maureen Bautista and her 14-year-old son Telesforo in Bakersfield, California whose double-murder
conviction and death sentence were overturned in 2001 when the 9th U.S.
Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the lower court judge provided
prejudicial jury instructions that voided a death sentence (but not the
convictions) in the 1978 shooting deaths of three USC film students,
and who was also sentenced to an additional 33 years to life for killing a
fellow drug dealer in Monterey County on Feb. 19, 1985 while he was
still at large for the first killings.
