Australian respected sleep researcher and an expert on sleep disorders who became an international authority on the pathogenesis of obstructive sleep apnoea and pulmonary medicine at Melbourne's Austin Hospital community serving as medical director of respiratory and sleep medicine at the University of Melbourne, and who had recently helped to secure significant funding from the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) to lead a research project to optimize sleep for quadriplegics.
