Summary: retired Korean War veteran and longtime owner of Ray J. Piehet Gallery of Antiques in New Orleans, Louisiana who was reportedly hospitalized in critical condition at an intensive care unit for two months from blunt-force trauma injuries caused by the floodwaters sustained in the aftermath of the catastrophic Hurricane Katrina tropical cyclone that struck the southeastern United States and killed at least 1,245 other people during the record-breaking 2005 Atlantic hurricane season as the storm caused severe destruction along the U.S. Gulf Coast from central Florida to Texas due to the storm surge and levee failure before making its second landfall as a Category 3 hurricane in southeast Louisiana in late August 2005, in which it was one of the five deadliest hurricanes in the history deadliest hurricanes in the history of the United States since 1928 Okeechobee hurricane.
