Summary: leader of the modern Orthodox Judaism movement who founded the Young Israel of Scarsdal synagogue congregation in New York with five families in the 1960's and over time saw it grow to about 400 families, who was president of the Rabbinical Council of America, the nation's largest group of Orthodox rabbis, from 1997 to 1999 as well of the Westchester Board of Rabbis.
