Summary: Monegasque prince whose 1956 storybook marriage to American actress Grace Kelly helped to promote the transformation of his tiny fiefdom from a pastel postage-stamp fantasy on the Mediterranean into a steel-and-glass tax haven, who was Europe's longest-reigning monarch when he ran his country with an iron hand and police surveillance in which there was virtually no crime and no unemployment (Princess Grace was killed in an auto accident in 1982), and whose son and heir Prince Albert took over as regent when his father became incapacitated in March 2005.
