Summary: best-selling author and survivor of the Our Lady of the Angels School fire that killed three nuns and 92 of her classmates on Dec. 1, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois who as an eight-grader had spend four-and-a-half months recovering in the hospital as a result of her burns after she jumped from a second-story window when her body caught fire, who also wrote about her experiences in the 1979 book The Fire That Will Not Die and later worked to establish a rehabilitation program known as the Phoenix, which helps rehabilitate burn victims and their families.
