Summary: father of Yankel Rosenbaum, a 29-year-old Hasidic scholar and doctoral student who was randomly attacked by a mob and stabbed four times after a Hasidic driver accidentally hit and killed a 7-year-old black boy in Brooklyn's Crown Heights section in August 1991 but died the next day, in which the two-day riots that followed helped to shape the course of NYC politics contributing to then-Mayor David Dinkins' loss to Rudy Giuliani in 1993 when Jewish groups and a state investigation faulted Dinkins (the city's first black mayor) for not taking more decisive steps to stop the Crown Heights violence.
