Summary: civic volunteer who was the first African-American recipient of the Archdiocese of New Orleans' Regina Matrum ("Mother of the Year") Award in 1969 as an honor presented to a Catholic mother for the exemplary living of her faith through her dedication to her family, church, and community, who was a very active member of St. Joan of Arc Church in New Orleans, where she was the Grand Lady of the Knights of St. Peter Claver at St. Joan of Arch Church in New Orleans as well as a member of the Sodality and Altar Society, who was also president of St. Joan of Arc School's Parent Teachers Association and was chairwoman of the Church's Bazaar.
