Summary: Texas man condemned to death for the 1991 capital murder of 63-year-old James Adams, shot and killed after a confrontation inside his northwest Houston home during a botched robbery with two accomplices, who in 2003 was within about two hours of being executed when he won a court reprieve to investigate claims that he was mentally retarded and ineligible for the death penalty, but those issues were resolved in 2008 after his attorneys sought to overturn or delay his death sentence on grounds of racism.
