Summary: Florida mother who pledged never to leave her then-teenage daughter's side as the girl slipped into a diabetic coma in 1970 whose story inspired best-selling author Dr. Wayne Dyer to write the book A Promise Is a Promise: An Almost Unbelievable Story of a Mother's Unconditional Love & What It Can Teach Us, in which the book's title came from the last exchange she had with her daughter Edwarda (who is a diabetic) after she caught the flu shortly before Christmas 1970, then her condition worsened over the next few days but who was hospitalized, then later cared for by her parents at home, attracting many visitors from around the world, and who had suffered for years from a cardiac condition that dated back to a heart attack in the early 1980's.
