Simpson case and garnering him a not guilty verdict, including using the phrase "if it doesn't fit, you must acquit", but who had gained attention earlier in his career as an advocate for those who were the victims of police abuse working hard to create changes in the Los Angeles police department, and who was also a dogged attorney of former Black Panther Geronimo Pratt after Pratt was convicted in 1972 of murdering a schoolteacher at a Santa Monica tennis court before eventually getting his conviction overturned in 1997.
