Summary: retired bus driver who had Rosa Parks arrested in 1955 when she refused to give up her seat to a white passenger prompting the Montgomery Bus Boycott in part by Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., which also led to a 1956 landmark ruling case to the Supreme Court on the basis of which a U.S. district court abolished Alabama's bus segregation laws and it became a galvanizing moment in the civil rights movement at the time.
