Summary:
Texas man who was convicted of the 1987 abduction and murder of 27-year-old elementary school teacher Lori Barrett who apparently surprised him while he was robbing her apartment near Abilene Christian University and whose body was found shot to death beside a rural road 12 days after she disappeared, and who was among the seven inmates who tried to stage a breakout from the Ellis Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice during Thanksgiving Day 1998, in which one inmate escaped but was shot by guards as he climbed a fence and later was found dead in a creek not far from the prison (the six others surrendered).
