Summary: leader of Sierra Leone's machete-wielding rebel force who attempted to take control of his country's government and diamond fields in the 1990's by attacking civilians and cutting off the hands, feet, lips and ears of men, women, and children including babies, who killed an estimated 75,000 civilians during their quest before intervention by Britain, Guinea and the U.N. ended the insurgency, and who was imprisoned for war crimes after his capture in 2000.
