Summary: Italian woman who ignited a fierce right-to-die debate that convulsed Italy and dragged in the Vatican while she had been in a comatose in a persistent vegetative state since a 1992 car accident whose doctors said her condition was irreversible but her father won a 10-year court battle in late 2008 to allow her feeding tube to be removed saying that was her wish, in which the Italian government backed by the Vatican tried to keep her alive racing against time to pass legislation prohibiting food and water from being suspended for all such patients.
