with older women at age 14 whose behavior sparked a public scandal and
convulsed an American weary of World War II when he ran off with a
married mother of two for the second time, but the woman was arrested
and subsequently convicted for contributing to the delinquency of a
minor in a latter incident, and whose scandalous affairs were the basis
for the 1987 film In the Mood starring Patrick Dempsey as Wisecarver.
