Summary: fifth-grade student at R.C. Longan Elementary School in Richmond, Virginia who was fatally attack by what authorities believed as a bull shark while he was enjoying a day of surfing with his father and two brothers about 40 to 50 yards offshore in 4-feet of water at Sandbridge Beach near Virginia Beach, Virginia after he had sustained a 17-inch gash to his left leg that tore an artery but no one else was injured, in which it became the first fatal unprovoked shark attack in Virginia's recorded history that took place in more that 40 years following a flurry of highly-publicized attacks this past summer off the Florida coast earlier this year.
