Summary: Burmese prominent Catholic (Latin Rite) clergyman in India who was installed as the fourth Archbishop of Delhi in November 1990, whose ministry earned him the respect both of fellow clergy and the Catholic laity, leading to his appointment in 1998 as President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India, who became a familiar voice and face to the Indian media following the sudden spurt in anti-Christian violence in the last few years while a Hindu nationalist government has controlled India, and who was chairman of the ecumenical United Christian Forum for Human Rights.
