Summary: South Korean professional badminton player who is best known for his more than 6-year men's doubles partnership with Lee Yong Dae with whom he won two All England titles, three Korea Open titles, Olympic bronze, and two Asian Games bronze medals, whose first big break came when he and Lee Jae Jin beat the reigning Olympic silver then gold medallists as they won two straight national titles in 2003 and 2004, who finished his career with a total of 18 Superseries titles, 7 Grand Prix and Grand Prix Gold titles, and one Asian Championship, who retired from international badminton immediately following his bronze medal performance at the 2012 Olympics but continued to play for the Samsung Electromechanics Badminton Team professionally inside Korea.
