Polish-born Israeli supercentenarian who was recognized as the world's oldest man following the death of Japanese supercentenarian Yasutaro Koide in January 2016 at the time of his death, who lived through both World Wars and survived the Auschwitz concentration camps, whose first wife and two children were killed in the Holocaust when six million Jews were systematically murdered by German Nazis and their collaborators during World War II, but who survived the war weighing only 37 kilograms (about 81 pounds) and became the only survivor of his large family, who later married another Holocaust survivor and moved with her to Israel in 1950, where he built a new family and a successful confectionary business.
