Russian ice hockey goalkeeper who had played for the CSKA Moscow (Red Army) hockey club in the 1960's whose team won the USSR national championship five times in six years from 1963 to 1969 and also won the Soviet Union Cup three times while making ten appearances for the USSR national team during his career, but who led a reclusive lifestyle in recent years and rarely attended club events after his departure from the team (his immediate predecessor was Vladislav Tretiak as starting goalie).
