Summary:
Indian student pursuing a master's degree in public health at the Texas A&M University who had remained hospitalized on life support in critical condition for a week from injuries she sustained during a near-drowning incident at Lake Bryan after she was rescued from a swollen lake in the hurricane-hit U.S. state of Texas while she had gone swimming in the lake along with another Indian student Nikhil Bhatia when a sudden current of water pushed them deeper during tropical storms related to the historic Hurricane Harvey that killed at least 60 people and damaged or destroyed more than 48,000 homes, offices and other buildings across the state of Texas when it made landfall in southeastern Texas as a Category 4 hurricane along the U.S. Gulf Coast in late August 2017 as the catastrophic flooding continues to devastate the Greater Houston metropolitan area during the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season, in which it became the first major hurricane to make landfall in the United States since Hurricane Wilma in 2005, ending a record 12-year period in which no storms of such severity made landfall.
