Burkinabe politician and president of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso from 2015 to 2017 who was a key associate of President Blaise Compaore for three decades and was described as the second most powerful politician in Burkina Faso, who was appointed as Burkina Faso's Ambassador to Austria later in 2008 and also served as vice president of the ruling party Congress for Democracy and Progress, but who resigned from the CDP in January 2014 and participated in the founding of an opposition party called the People's Movement for Progress (MPP) becoming its first vice president when he came to power in the November 2015 general elections after Compaore was overthrown in a popular uprising.
