Liu Xiaobo

Chinese writer and human rights activist who kept vigil at Tiananmen Square in 1989 to protect protesters from enroaching soldiers, promoted a pro-democracy charter that brought him a lengthy prison sentence, and was awarded the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize while imprisoned for his pro-democracy writings, and who is considered as one of China's most prominent political prisoners.
