eldest son of the late North Korean leader Kim Jong-il (d. 2011) who was considered as the heir apparent to his father from roughly 1994 to 2001, but who was thought to have fallen out of favor with his father following a series of actions showing dissent to the North Korean regime, including a failed attempt to visit Tokyo Disneyland in May 2001 by entering Japan with a false passport, who was exiled from North Korea circa 2003 becoming an occasional critic of his family's regime and an advocate for reform, whose younger half-brother Kim Jong-un was named heir apparent in September 2010.




Cause of Death: Poisoned to death in an apparent nerve agent attack
