British-born terrorist and career criminal who was identified by police as the sole perpetrator responsible for the 2017 Westminster attack during which he drove a rented sport-utility vehicle into a crowd of pedestrians on the Westminster Bridge killing two people and severely injured at least 40 others at the scene, then fatally stabbed an unarmed police officer within the grounds of the Palace of Westminster in central London during the nation's deadliest terror attack in the United Kingdom in 12 years since the July 7, 2005 London bombings, who had been previously investigated by the country's Security Service and domestic intelligence agency MI5 in relation to concerns about violent extremism but was considered as a "peripheral figure" in the jihadist movement.
