American-born opera singer who made a name for herself after winning first prize in the Salzburg Mozart competition in 1985 and went on to tour extensively throughout Europe, Asia and North America when she made her European debut as the Queen of the Night in Mozart's Die Zauberflote at the Hamburg Staatsoper in a role she would perform around the world more than 200 times, but who was perhaps most remembered for operatic performances as one of "The Three Sopranos" alongside with Kallen Esperian and Cynthia Lawrence as the three sopranos toured alongside Luciano Pavarotti in the late 1990's.
