Filipino mass murderer and former Department of Finance tax specialist who was the lone perpetrator responsible for the deadly shooting and fire attacks on the Resorts World Manila casino hotel that killed 37 patrons and empoyees inside the entertainment complex in suburban Pasay City, the Philippines around midnight on June 2, 2017 after he set fire to casino tables and slot machine chairs during the rampage, then moved to a storage area to steal 113 million pesos ($2.27 million) worth of casino chips from the venue in a botched robbery attempt and later exchanged gunfire with security guards, who had a severe gambling addiction and was fired from his job in 2014 by the Office of the Ombudsman for failing to disclose all his assets due to his financial problems and massive gambling debts, but authorities have dismissed claims that the incident was a terrorist attack despite the Islamic State claiming responsibility for the casino attack.
