Summary:
Spanish engineer and automotive parts manufacturer who was the first businessman kidnapped by the Basque separatist group ETA when he was seized from his country home near Pamplona, Spain in January 1973 by four armed men and held captive for 10 days until his family paid a ransom of some $800,000 and agreed to settle a labor dispute on terms dictated by the underground Basque terrorist organization Euzkadi Ta Azkatasuna (or Basque Nation and Freedom), but who was later released in exchange for a high ransom and the fulfillment of demands imposed by workers striking at a factory owned by one of his firms Grupo Huarte.
