Summary: Iranian Arab prominent political activist who founded the little-known Arab nationalist group Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahwaz (ASMLA) in 1999 as part of efforts to seek a separate state in Iran's oil-rich southwestern Khuzestan province, who advocated for the independence of the country's Ahwazi Arab minority and whose armed wing of ASMLA's movement had claimed responsibility for several attacks in Iran, including the killing of two members of the elite Revolutionary Guards in January 2017.
