Summary:
retired nurse and longtime volunteer with Houston Audubon Society's Docent Guild, which develops educational programs at the Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary in west Houston, Texas who was among one of more than 40 people reported missing and feared dead in the historic Hurricane Harvey tropical storm that killed at least 60 people and damaged or destroyed more than 48,000 homes, offices and other buildings across the state of Texas when it made landfall in southeastern Texas as a Category 4 hurricane along the U.S. Gulf Coast in late August 2017 as the catastrophic flooding continues to devastate the Greater Houston metropolitan area during the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season, in which it became the first major hurricane to make landfall in the United States since Hurricane Wilma in 2005, ending a record 12-year period in which no storms of such severity made landfall.
