Summary:
Japanese engineer and development aid worker for the Tokyo-based urban and transportation consulting firm ALMEC Corp. specializing in traffic congestion projects in South-east Asia with offices in Manila, Hanoi, Jakarta and Ulan Bator who was among one of the 20 hostages reportedly killed in a deadly July 2016 militant attack and hostage-taking siege when at least five heavily-armed gunmen stormed inside the popular Holey Artisan Bakery cafe in the affluent Gulshan Thana neighborhood with many embassies in Dhaka, Bangladesh and held several dozens of people captive for nearly 10 hours triggering explosions and finding at least five bodies lying in pools of blood after two police officers were shot dead by the assailants in the immediate response while Dhaka Metropolitan Police tried to regain control of the bakery, in which the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the incident and released photographs of the militants, but the home minister of Bangladesh stated that the perpetrators belonged to the local Islamist group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen and were not affiliated with ISIL.
