Summary:
Romanian queen consort and wife of Romania's last monarch King Michael, whom she met in November 1947 when both were in London for the wedding of future Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip Mountbatten, whose husband returned to Romania and was forced to abdicate by the Communists on December 30, 1947 and spent most of his life in exile, but the couple were married in an Orthodox ceremony in Athens, Greece in 1948 after Pope Pius XII refused to give Princess Anne (who was half French and half Danish) dispensation to marry a non-Catholic, and whose first visit was in 1992 when her husband returned to Romania after the fall of communism.
