Malian photographer whose black and white images captured the night life, music, youth, fashion, and popular culture of the 1960's and 1970's in Bamako after Mali gained independence from France, whose work was exhibited internationally and who was recognized for his photography by the Hasselblad Foundation in 2003, who also received the Golden Lion Award for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale in 2007.
