Summary:
adopted daughter of Nobel Prize-winning author Pearl S. Buck (d. 1973) who was one of seven adopted children and was inspired by a sister's mental illness to train as an occupational therapist, but who wrote an afterword to one of her mother's books including The Child Who Never Grew, which chronicled the struggles of raising a disabled child (Buck's novel The Good Earth won the Pulitzer Prize in 1932 and helped to earn her the Nobel for Literature in 1938), who also served on the board at Pearl S. Buck International and cared for her mother's National Historic Landmark home outside Philadelphia.
