wife of U.S. Air Force officer Lt. Col. Kato Martinez serving as a military assistant to the commander at NATO's Joint Force Command stationed in the Netherlands who was reportedly hospitalized in extremely critical condition from severe injuries she received in the aftermath of the March 22 Brussels bombings that also killed at least 30 people at the scene and wounded more than 250 others including her husband and the couple's four children as two explosions occurred at the Brussels Airport and a third took place at the Maelbeek metro station during a series of Islamist terror attacks across the Belgian capital city, in which the Islamic Sate of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) organization claimed responsibility for the attacks and it became the deadliest act of terrorism to occur in Belgium.
