Burmese military officer and commander-in-chief of the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA), an insurgent group that is currently fighting government forces in Myanmar (formerly Burma), who split from the Christian-led Karen National Union in December 1994 and later signed a peace agreement with the Myanmar government in exchange for military and financial support, but who became widely known in Thailand after being blacklisted for being involved in drug gangs.
