British archaeologist specializing in the study of the Persian Gulf and the Baluchistan region of Pakistan who was president of the British Foundation for the Study of Arabia and also served as the Secretary of the Council for British Archaeology under the prominent archaeologist Sir Mortimer Wheeler from 1949 to 1973, and who was considered as one of the world's oldest practising archaeologists at the end of her career.
