German-born cook whose career as a private chef to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis came to an abrupt and much-publicized end in April 1968 when she was fired for talking to the press, but who later worked as executive chef for the Saturday Evening Post and Gourmet magazine, opened a cooking school at her Murray Hill townhouse in Manhattan in 1972, and wrote several cookbooks.
