Summary: Croatian petroleum engineer and surveyor for the French-owned geoscience company CGG Ardiseis who was abducted and held captive by an Islamic State-affiliate terrorist group in July 2015 while he was driving to work in Cairo, Egypt and became the first foreign civilian to be taken hostage by ISIS militants in Egypt since the extremists set up a branch there, whose captors had demanded the release of female Islamist prisoners detained in a sweeping government crackdown following the 2013 military ouster of the country's Islamist president Mohammed Morsi.
