Nigerian prominent Islamic scholar and professor of Arabic and Islamic studies at the University of Maiduguri in Nigeria who had served as the deputy secretary general of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and was among the 11 candidates who vied for appointment as Vice Chancellor in 2014, but who also was the executive chairman of the Borno State Pilgrims Welfare Board in a position he was appointed in 2013 when Governor Kashim Shettima reconstituted the agency's board and who was considered as one of Nigeria's most versatile Muslim intellectuals.




Cause of Death: Crushed to death during the Hajj stampede
