singer and daughter of jazz legend Nat King Cole (d. 1965) who carved out her own success with rhythm and blues hits like Our Love and This Will Be before combining their legacies to make his Unfortgettable their signature hit through technological wizardry while she was a Grammy winner in her own right, who had her greatest success in 1991 when she re-recorded her father's classic hits (with his voice on the track) for the album Unforgettable...With Love and it became a multi-platinum smash and won her multiple Grammy Awards including album of the year, but who had battled heroin, crack cocaine, and alcohol addiction for many years and spent six months in rehab in 1983, who was diagnosed with hepatitis C in 2008 and later suffered kidney failure for which she underwent a kidney transplant in 2009.
