Eliezer Rosenfeld who was a student enrolled in the joint philosophy
and economics program at the Hebrew University, where he was to have
finished his bachelor's degree in philosophy, economics and business
management next month at the top of the dean's list, but who had
suffered serious injuries that left him in critical condition after he
sustained bullet wounds to his lower back in a June 29 shooting attack
when terrorists opened fire at the front of a passing civilian vehicle
from close range along the Route 60 junction while he was returning
home with three friends from a basketball game at a nearby settlement
in the West Bank, in which the attack was the latest in a series of
violent assaults that have rocked Israel since the beginning of the
Islamic holy month of Ramadan two weeks ago, including the murder of an
Israeli civilian and several attacks on IDF soldiers and Israeli border
policemen that was carried out by the same Hamas militant cell involved
in the drive-by shooting attack.
