the tragic sinking of the Leviathan II when the 65ft-long
whale-watching boat capsized and sank in the vicinity of Plover Reef
off the west coast of Vancouver Island near Tofino, British Columbia,
Canada during calm seas with one remaining passenger still missing in
one of the worst Canadian marine accidents of the decade, in which the
Transportation Safety Board of Canada said a rogue wave flipped the
ship when most of the passengers and crew members were on the top
observation deck raising a high center of gravity that may have
compromised the ship's stability.
