transgender actress who was featured in Lou Reed's 1972 song Walk on the Wild Side and became a fixture of the New York 1970's underground scene as one of Andy Warhol's drag queen superstars after she ran away from her Florida home at age 15, then hitchhiked to New York taking the name "Holly" from Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's heroine Holly Golightly, but who had traveled with and performed in her own cabaret show in later years and recently had a guest-star role on Amazon's hit series Transparent.
